This new work is entitled O Whispering Suns and is scored for

It is based on texts from the first poem in Walt Whitman's collection "Leaves of Grass" (this poem was later titled Song of Myself), and it was premiered in the Haarlem Philharmonie on July 2, 2011, under the direction of Kaspars Putnins, with choreography / movement advice from Sanne van der Put.

Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass, Song of Myself

[excerpt, stanza 6]
. . . . . .
Tenderly will I use you curling grass,
It may be you transpire from the breasts of young men,
It may be if I had known them I would have loved them;
It may be you are from old people and from women, and from offspring taken soon out of their mothers' laps,
And here you are the mothers' laps.
